If you feel you are not safe in your home or place of residence due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking DASI’s Emergency Safe House may be an option to consider for you and your children.
Although we use the terms “safe house” and “shelter”, it is really a converted four bedroom home in a residential neighborhood. However, the location of the safe house is kept confidential, it is staffed 24/7, and we have an extensive security system.
In a warm, home-like environment we provide food, transportation, individual supportive counseling, support groups, services for children, advocacy, legal advocacy including court preparation, court accompaniment, information and referrals. Mothers remain responsible for their children, share cooking and cleaning duties, and may continue to work and attend school or other activities if it is safe to do so. Because this is temporary housing, DASI can help you in your efforts to obtain more permanent housing.
To access shelter services, call the 24-hour Helpline at 973-875-1211.
