| Individual Supportive Counseling |
|
Although
DASI does not provide clinical therapy, we can provide supportive,
educational counseling that may help in making the difficult life
choices caused by experiencing domestic and/or sexual violence. Our
services are often helpful as an adjunct to therapy.
In
addition, our supportive counseling services are available to friends
and family members who want to be helpful to the victim/survivor.
Short-term
and long-term counseling are free of charge, and available during
business hours, and some evenings, at the DASI Community Outreach
Center in Newton or in the DASI Emergency Shelter.

| Support Groups |
|
Often
a survivor of domestic and/or sexual violence feels isolated and alone,
as if no one else could possibly understand the fear and the confusion
she feels. Support groups bring individuals together to share and learn
from each other, frequently to find out that they are not so alone
after all. Participants can find safety, support and valuable
information in the group, as well as a better understanding of the
impact the abuse has had on their lives. Support groups can be
extremely beneficial to the healing process.
DASI
offers support groups, free of charge, for survivors of domestic
violence, a group for survivors of sexual assault and abuse, and a
group for survivors of both who are also in recovery from substance
abuse.
For more information about DASI Support Groups, please call: 973-579-2386.
